OUR PICK FOR COUPLES
Grand Deluxe
590 ft² · corner · Capitol views
A corner room with the Capitol framed in the windows. The ideal anniversary room.
DOWNTOWN · OPPOSITE THE TENNESSEE STATE CAPITOL · SINCE 1910

Our verdict
Since 1910 this is where Nashville comes to celebrate: presidents, film stars and country legends have all passed through its Beaux-Arts lobby. A 2021–22 restoration refined every room and brought in Jean-Georges Vongerichten to run the restaurants. For history, space and gracious service rather than a rooftop pool, nowhere in Nashville beats it.

We point you to the famous Art Deco men's room and the suffrage story, so nothing important is missed.
“Like being welcomed into a grand Southern home, lovingly preserved.”
The lobby is the showpiece: a restored hand-painted glass ceiling, ornamental plasterwork and Tennessee marble, now with a blue and silver palette and a bespoke bar. It's regarded as the last Beaux-Arts commercial building in Tennessee.
The history is real rather than themed. In 1920 it was headquarters for both sides of the women's suffrage battle, which made it a National Historic Landmark in 2020. Staff wear a Draper James floral print, and its lime-green Art Deco men's room is one of the most photographed rooms in Nashville. The most serene, classical stay in our collection.
Generous in everyday rooms rather than showpiece suites

A NASHVILLE MOMENT
A cocktail beneath the painted glass ceiling.
FRIDAY TO SUNDAY

HOW IT COMPARES
With Yolan at The Joseph, this is the finest hotel dining in Nashville. Bacco at the Four Seasons and the W's venues are more about atmosphere than cuisine.
Treatments and a gym, but nothing on the scale of The Joseph's Rose or 1 Hotel's Bamford.
How it compares: There's no pool, and that's the main compromise. If a pool matters, look at the Four Seasons, The Joseph, the JW or the W.
At the top of downtown, opposite the State Capitol. Everything is walkable, but you're far enough from Broadway for restful nights.
ON THE DOORSTEP
Especially anniversaries and proposals. The most romantic old-world stay in the city.
Without equal for architecture, and Drusie & Darr is a destination.
Parlour Suites give real space, and dogs are welcome.
A birthday over afternoon tea. For a livelier base with a pool, try the W or the JW.
Less suited to: anyone who wants a pool or rooftop, or a contemporary high-rise view (try the Four Seasons or The Joseph).
| Hotel | Choose it for | CHOOSE THE HERMITAGE FOR |
|---|---|---|
| Four Seasons | River views, a pool, a more contemporary, lively feel | History, larger standard rooms, finer dining |
| Union Station | The more dramatic lobby and a more accessible rate | Considerably larger rooms and finer dining |
| The Joseph | Art, a rooftop pool and a spa | Real history and more space in every room |
