Our verdict
A sun-bleached, mid-century escape across the river, with a pool and suites made for groups.
Drift turned a 1965 motel on the East Bank into a relaxed, Baja-inspired hotel with a garden pool and cabanas. Its one-, two- and three-bedroom suites and 1,800 ft² penthouse make it one of the best group stays in the city. Downtown is about a mile away, across the river.

The atmosphere
“Baja calm on the banks of the Cumberland.”
Nashville firm Dryden kept the mid-century bones and added Drift's palette of rust and forest green, with terrazzo, leather, rough-hewn wood and exposed concrete.
It feels laid-back and sunny, more like a resort than a downtown hotel. Locally made art hangs in the rooms.
